In about 1190 the was a massive fire in the Abbey, as it was then, and a need to attract new pilgrims was urgently required.  Fortunately they were able to rapidly discover the remains of King Arthur and his wife Guinevere ... which of course then provided plenty of reason to visit the Abbey and see the Holy remains and of course subscribe to the building of a new Abbey.
