In this square, one of the largest in the world, the two cathedrals of Zaragoza are located: the Basilica del Pilar and the Cathedral of La Seo. El Pilar is known for its Christian devotion to the Virgin of Pilar. According to tradition, the Apostle Santiago received the visit of the Virgin Mary in this place at a time when he was discouraged by the lack of response to his preaching. The Cathedral of La Seo is an architectural gem, a mixture of numerous architectural styles.
