Vipiteno / Sterzing is a small town near the border to Austria in South Tyrol. In December a Christmas Market is held on the central market square. It is a lovely little market, not to be compared to the large ones in the big cities, but it is a cosy place where it makes fun to have a mulled wine. The only mentionable "negative" thing is, that the market is closed between 18:00 and 19:00 depending on the day of week. Therefore they open early in the morning, which is not a good alternative for mulled wine I believe.

Especially in the afternoon and evening hours when it is dark, the illuminated silhouettes of the houses and buildings are a remarkable eyecatcher
